Waterstones.com Encourages Twilight Teens to Read with Books that Bite
(PRWEB) November 18, 2011
In recent years, modern vampire-related fiction like the Twilight Saga, Morganville series, and The Vampire Diaries has had teenagers queuing outside bookshops for the latest releases. Now, its the cinemas that are full to capacity with teens thirsting for their vampire film fix.
With this in mind, Waterstones.com has produced a digital timeline of the popular vampire novels through the ages, proving that vampire fiction isnt a new phenomenon. Theyre encouraging young people to try out some classics, such as the 1797 Christabel by Samuel Taylor Colerige or Bram Stokers 1897 classic, Dracula.
A recent survey by the National Literacy Trust showed that less than a third of school children read every day and that the older children are, the less likely they are to read. Huge movie releases are a great opportunity to remind young people that the books are there to be read, too.
Liz Horne, Online Teen Fiction Buyer for Waterstones.com says There is a wealth of great vampire fiction available which is accessible to teens and adults alike. Its not just vampires; fallen angels are the hottest new trend in horror writing a possible indication for future film releases.
