Eventhough his first career choice was becoming a rock star. William Albert ‘Billy’ Burke has already made a name for himself in the silver screen long before he landed the part of Officer Charlie Swan in the 2008 movie Twilight. Some of his TV credits includes roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Second Skin), Party Of Five, Gilmore Girls, Karen Sisco, Fringe, Monk and The Closer. He also plays Detective Eric Box in the movie Untraceable.
Billy Burke also appeared in some movies like Jane Austen’s Mafia!, Along Came a Spider, Final Jeopardy, Flashpoint and Ladder 49. He also appeared in Feast of Love (2007), co-starring Selma Blair and Morgan Freeman.
In 2008, he appeared in the movie Twilight, based on Stephanie Meyer’s best selling novel, playing the role of Bella’s Cop Father: Charlie Swan.
“I started off my career being the bad boyfriend running around with the gun, and now I’m officially old enough to play a 17-year-old’s father.” he said on playing the father of Kristen Stewart in “Twilight”.
“I tend to gravitate towards characters that carry their damage in their hip pocket,” he told the fan site Twilight Lexicon in 2008.
One of Billy’s favorite up-and-coming directors is Catherine Hardwicke who made the films Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown and Twilight.
Billy Burke reprises his role in the recently released movie ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon‘. He will also appear in the future productions of the Twilight Saga like Eclipse. His upcoming film credits include The Fallen, Forfeit, Fracture and Retirement.
Billy Burke, like other celebrities, is an avid poker player where he appeared in some poker TV shows. Billy learned to play poker when he was about nine years old.
