The Twilight Movie Cast – Who Would You Choose?

I’ve been reading comments about The Twilight Movie Cast…there are so many to be found online. I disagree with some of them and totally agree with most. Who would you choose?

I think that Rob Pattinson is a great choice to play Edward Cullen. I did not always think that. When I first heard about the casting for the. Twilight movie I did not think Rob was a good choice for the character of Edward Cullen. Not that I think Rob is not a good actor. He is and I did enjoy his performance as Cedric Diggory in the fourth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I wasn’t convinced of his ability to take on a more mature role like the character of Edward…boy, was I wrong. The first time I saw the Twilight movie I knew he was the perfect choice. Now to millions of Twilight fans, Rob Pattinson has become Edward Cullen.

What about Bella? Do you think Kristen Stewart is Bella? I do…I cannot imagine anyone else in that part but her. These two young actors have lots of experience between them and both Kristen and Rob acted their hearts out…they put 100 percent into their characters and that’s why the movie is as popular as it is. The chemistry between them is wonderful. Chemistry cannot be faked and this movie is so great because these two had it! I think the movie was cast perfectly.

Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the Twilight movie, was greatly responsible for casting Kristen and Rob. She actually found the meadow they used in the movie, wanting it to be perfect. It’s a little scary to think of New Moon without the direction of Catherine Hardwick. Harry Potter thrived with changes in the directors of several of his films, so lets hope The Twilight Saga has the same fate.

Back to the cast…I have seen Kristen and Rob in other performances, but I was not familiar with any of the others actors and actresses in the cast. Now I feel like they are my friends, at least I feel like I know the characters they portrayed. They all, combined, gave us a great gift with the Twilight movie. Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli.

Edward Cullen is played by Rob Pattinson. Edward is 17, forever. He has been a vampire since 1918. Carlisle Cullen found Edward and his mother dying of Spanish Influenza. Edward’s mother begged Carlisle not to let her son perish…as if she could sense something about Carlisle that could save her son.

Isabella “Bella” Marie Swan the 17 year old human in love with a vampire is played Kristen Stewart. It’s the scent of her blood that drives Edward crazy. It’s like a drug to him, and neither Edward or Bella are sure if he can resist it. Regardless of the danger and before Bella even knows what the danger is, she states that she is “unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him”.

Carlisle Cullen is the most compassionate of the clan. He turned four members of his family into vampires. Edward was the first, Esme, his wife was the second, Rosalie was the third and Emmett was the fourth. Carlisle is played by Peter Facinelli.

Esme Cullen is played by Elizabeth Reaser. Esme acts as “foster mother” of the vampire clan. She was turned by Carlisle after leaping from a cliff in a state of depression after losing a child. She is very gentle and loving, perfect for the role of a mother.

Alice Cullen has the gift of seeing the future. In her human life she was admitted to an asylum. In the early part of the century, the gift of premonition was thought of as mental illness. Alice was in danger of being killed by the vampire tracker James, while in the institution. A kindly vampire there turned her before James could hurt her. Ashley Greene plays Alice Cullen.

Jackson Rathbone plays Jasper Hale. Jasper is Alice’s mate. She found him at a diner in Philadelphia. Jasper was a civil war major, a southern gentlemen, who was turned by a vampire named Maria. When Jasper left Maria and met Alice, Alice said “You’ve kept me waiting for a long time”. Alice, thanks to her gift, knew that she would find Jasper and where he would be. Jasper was bewildered, but being the officer and gentleman he was, replied “Sorry Ma’am”. Jasper felt hope after meeting Alice.

Rosalie Cullen is played by Nikki Reed. In life Rosalie Hale was the most beautiful girl in town. She was happy with her lot in life and resents being a vampire. If she could become human, she would. She doesn’t like Bella’s decision to become a vampire but Rosalie helps Bella in Breaking Dawn.

Kellan Lutz plays Emmett Cullen. Emmett was mauled by a bear, and almost dead, when Rosalie found him. He was so beautiful, with dark hair and dimples, he reminded Rosalie of a beautiful baby she once knew. Rosalie was afraid to try to turn Emmett and carried him over 100 miles to bring him to Carlisle. He and Rosalie are married.

Jacob Black, Bella’s Quileute friend and werewolf is played by Taylor Lautner. Jacob’s character progresses in importance through the Saga. He loves Bella and she loves him, but he can never replace Edward.

I disagree with those who think the Twilight movie wasn’t cast properly, or that the movie doesn’t do the Twilight novel justice. For me all the pieces fell together like an jigsaw puzzle. Each piece fit easily, and let me see a complete picture when it was done. I think I will go watch it again right now!

I am not a movie critic…just a Twilight movie fan…and it’s what the fans think after all, that matters! I have a feeling there are going to be lots of movie review parties when the Twilight Movie is released on DVD. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for New Moon!
