Feature Film “Rock of Ages” Conducting National Search for Actor to Star in Remake of Tony Nominated Play

West Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 2, 2011

ActorCast, in association with New Line/Warner Bros, announces the launch of their latest open call website at http://www.rockofagesmoviecasting.com. The casting directors and studio are conducting a nationwide search looking for an actor to star opposite Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages, a remake of the Tony nominated Broadway play.

The actor, or aspiring actor, must fit the role of Drew Boley, originally played on Broadway by Constantine Maroulis. A rock-n-roll singing voice is a must. The description for the character is someone in his early 20s, super handsome leading man looks and a nice guy, despite the tough-guy duds. Drew is an aspiring rocker, a talented singer/guitarist who’s already working with a band. Immediately smitten by the lovely and naive yet talented Sherrie, he’s currently working behind the scenes at the legendary Bourbon Room. He is stoked when he finally gets a chance to open for a major star, yet later a mortified Drew is signed by a manager who insists on turning him into the next homogenized teeny bopper.

The search has a deadline for submissions of March 31, 2011, and the film is scheduled to begin filming in May 2011. However, casting will continue until the role is filled. Film will be directed by Adam Shankman (Bringing Down the House, The Pacifier) and produced by Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Gibgot (17 Again, Step Up).

ActorCast, http://www.actorcast.com, is the premiere online service for both working and aspiring actors and is a subsidiary of Cast It Systems LLC. Cast It/ActorCast works with all the major film and television studios and has been operating online open calls for film and television for over 2 years, starting with Twilight:Eclipse and most recently, Project X.
